The Club House
The club house is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1st March to 31st October each year and Wednesday and Friday evenings from April until the end of the season (Also Wednesday and Friday afternoons from April to August). On these days safety boat cover is provided either by club personnel or through a membership rota. Special events are organised for Bank Holidays. The main club racing series occur on Wednesday evenings (general handicap) and Sundays (Classes) from mid-day with Friday evenings and Saturdays being popular cruising times although boats may cruise whilst normal club racing is taking place. Windsurfing members may sail at other times during the week without safety boat cover although changing facilities are not usually available. There are toilet facilities in the fishing lodge, on the lake side, which is open at all times during the season. The club house also provides changing rooms and toilet facilities for members. There is a comfortable lounge where families and guests can watch the activities on the water in comfort. There is a bar and kitchen facilities. Catering is provided on Friday evenings and during Saturday and Sundays plus for special events with a range of drinks, snacks and meals then on offer.
Day Sailing
Day sailing is only available for Windsurfing, subject to the following conditions:
- All windsurfers must be members of SDSC, and buoyancy aids will be worn
- Solo sailing not permitted. 'Buddy' system only
- Check all rigging and fixtures prior to sailing, and ensure clothing is adequate for conditions and water temperature
- In strong winds - novices not permitted to sail
- Sailors must sign in the book in the Fisherman's Lodge.
Social Events
Social events are organised on a monthly basis with a social programme pocket card being provided at the start of the season. Folk night, dances, fireworks, quizzes all find a place in the popular programme. Children of family members are welcome at Scaling Dam. Each year a week long summer sail camp is held for children between the ages of eight and 16.
Members' Boats
Members' boats can be kept at the club in the boat park during the sailing season on payment of the appropriate dinghy park fee . There is a fleet of six Optimist dinghies currently based at Scaling Dam. The junior section also has two topper dinghies for loan to club juniors. There are a number of Club boats available for use. The Club has a Challenger trimaran for disabled sailors.

Application forms are available at the Club House, from the Club page of this website, or from the membership secretary to whom they should be returned. Reduced subscription rates apply from 1st August each year.
